At KFC, 24 people applied for the job, says Alibaba's founder Jack Ma, and while 23 were hired — he wasn't one of them.
The same thing happened when he tried to be a cop. This time four of five applicants were hired, all except Ma.
Before they got funding from an investment company founder of Mall for Africa's founder received 35 no's from venture capitalists. Now remember, this is someone who had credibility in building business and had successfully done this in the past but still got turned down.
I recently got turned down for funding that I was so sure I would get. I was in utter disbelief! I wont lie, this temporarily took the wind out of my sails. But the following day I reminded my self that a no is one step closer to a yes.
Sometimes, a no means perhaps you need to review your strategy or change course; more often than not its just a signal to keep trying. Your request may have fallen on ears that were not ready for your idea or that person wasn't positioned to help you yet. It doesn't mean stop. It means get onto the next opportunity to ask someone else.
Imagine the great ideas that die just because you got derailed by a no or an objection?
Remember, NO = Next Opportunity!
