Takunda Chingonzo: Navigating the tech ecosystem in Zimbabwe

Takunda Chingonzo is no stranger to entrepreneurship in Africa. He is the founder of The TechVillage, a collaborative working space for early stage tech startups as well as the founder of Velociti, a startup accelerator based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. After completing his degree in quantity surveying in 2014, he went on to obtain a CISCO certification in network security. Although he does not have a traditional background in business or technical design, it is his entrepreneurial spirit that has been the driving force in his companies and in instigating social change.
He has spoken at numerous international conferences like the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the Global Philanthropy Forum and the Clinton Global Initiative Middle East and Africa Conference. Takunda has also had the opportunity to interview President Obama on issues relating to African entrepreneurs.

He is heavily immersed in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and has mentored a good number of startups at events like Startup Weekend in pursuit of his life mission, which is to help build enduring companies. In 2015 he was featured on the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list titled: Tomorrow’s billionaires’. He is a Mandela Washington Fellow, a Yunus and Youth Fellow and Kairos Fellow and has received numerous awards and recognition attributed to his various work in empowering and driving the spirit of entrepreneurship across Africa.
